First day in the UK

No sooner did I arrive at my new home than I drove us in our brand new used car to James’s school to greet him at the end of the school day. We watched his football practice and then went out to dinner with Sarah’s close friend and neighbour (see how I'm adjusting!), Jo and her kids, Tom and Amy.

At dinner, I ordered seltzer with lime and nearly spit it out with the first sip. They put lime cordial in the glass and poured San Pellegrino in. Oh these Brits think they’re so funny.

Almost all the women here are named either Jo or Emma.

Driving home, I was able to keep fairly close to Jo’s car which is no mean feat. I’m already becoming an accomplished driver in the English countryside though I am now experiencing left/right confusion. Will need to talk to Oliver Sacks.

Sarah and I skyped just one last time tonight. Incredible feedback since we were sitting next to each other on the patio.

I’m relaxing into retirement in Brent Pelham and it is quite nice.
